Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls
Written by: Francesca Cavallo & Elena Favilli
Illustrated by: over 100 female artists
"Gratitude is one our favorite feelings. It has accompanied the creation of this book from its inception through the moment you hold it in your hands."
This fall I took my daughter to a conference where we had the pleasure of seeing Francesca Cavallo speak on the creation and intention of Rebel Girls and its tales of extraordinary women. Francesca spoke very passionately about the "hidden curriculum" we as parents, educators, guardians, society ect. are providing to our youth everyday. This is a narrative I have long believed in and is one of the reasons I write about books. I believe there is a book out there that can create change, inspiration and transport you anywhere you wish to go.
The first Rebel Girls collection of stories was published in 2016, with the second following late last year in 2017 and the new Podcast was just released earlier this month. These stories are written about women from all over the world. They are scientists, athletes, pilots, inventors, designers, politicians, activists, musicians and dancers. All of these stories are accompanied with inspired artwork by over 100 women artists from around the world. Women of every color and walk of life are represented in these books. These stories will connect, inspire and educate all those who take the time to read them. Do not forget about the new podcast, it is already downloaded in our house. My 8 and 11 year olds devoured both of these books as soon as they arrived at our doorstep and I expect the same will follow for the Podcast.
These stories are for young & old, women & men, girls & boys. It is never too early or too late to educate ourselves and our future.
