I really enjoy a good time period piece. The only thing better is if it is a work of historical fiction, then you get to pick through and question and decide..."Could this be true?" This beautifully written story takes you back to the late 19th century when men and women had very specific roles in society and the home. You can close your eyes and place yourself in their homes and on the sidewalks, you might even be able to smell the coffee in the cafes as they huddle around the tables debating theories of physics...to be a fly on the wall.
Marie Benedict walks you through Mileva and Albert's relationship and you can't help but fall in love with their courtship and then be completely heartbroken at the demise of their relationship and deterioration of the intellectual connection that brought them together in the first place.
How much of it is true, I don't know? The theories have long been debated. The only people that truly know are Albert and Mileva themselves. Pick up this book, read Mileva's side of the story and decide for yourself.
